Catechists

The church has used the term catechesis to describe the ministry which seeks to make faith "..living, conscious, and active..." through teaching, prayer, and witness, which seeks to bring to maturity the seeds of faith sown by God (General Catechetical Directory 17).Those called to faithfully and authentically echo the work of God in each age and to   each new generation are called "CATECHISTS."

CATECHISTS are charged with the ministry of promoting and educating in faith everyone "whosoever believes" (Mark 16:16: General Directory for Catechesis, 220).

We take this responsibility seriously and value the ministry of Catechist. The Catechist is interviewed and registered as a volunteer in the parish.  They are provided with initial and ongoing formation in order to ensure a fine quality of religious education.

As parish catechists, working closely with parents who are the primary educators of children, we form a team. As we hand on our Roman Catholic traditions, we believe that we are giving them a valuable tool to interpret life, and that we are sharing with them the Good News that we have found in faith. Parents, first and foremost, pass on the faith to their children, we as catechists help the children to understand our faith.
